The Village of Millerton Water District is back in business after the catastrophic
fire of February 3rd, thankfully no lives were lost.

The Village water operator VRI Environmental Services, based in Lagrangeville,
was onsite yesterday even before the fire was extinguished with a plan to get the
Millerton Water District up and running.

Our water district has two well shafts. Well #1 “the Doghouse” and Well #2
which was in the Department of Public Works building where the water had been
treated and then pumped to the Millerton Water Tank. VRI set up a temporary
solution for our water to be conditioned as required and pumped from Well #1 to
the water tank.

The temporary system was checked out by NYS Homeland Security and
Emergency Services, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and
most importantly given the go ahead to proceed by the Dutchess County Board of
Health.

Thank you to the Millerton Fire Company, our neighboring fire companies, New
York State agencies, Dutchess County, VRI Environmental Services and
Berlinghoff Electric for working together with the Village of Millerton to
extinguish the fire and to get our water district back online within 13 hours
without an interruption of service.
