NOTICE OF POSSIBLE LEAD SERVICE LINE MATERIAL
New state and federal laws require us to inventory all water service lines in our service area. A service line is the underground pipe that carries water from the water main, likely in the street, into your home or building. We are required to notify consumers annually if their service line material is lead, galvanized requiring replacement (GRR), or is unknown. GRR is defined as having a galvanized iron or steel service line that is currently or was previously downstream of a lead service line or an unknown service line.
Find out what service line is in your home here: https://nyogslslir.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=3058a02320544c8eb0a976f291806793
- If you believe your service line material is incorrectly categorized, please contact us to assist with material verification (contact information provided below). Please describe service line ownership and material of both portions of the service line, if applicable.
- Water systems are required to replace all system-owned lead service lines. Property owners are encouraged to replace their portion of the service line if it is made of lead or is galvanized requiring replacement. We are required to replace our portion of lead service line when the property owner notifies us they are replacing their portion of lead or galvanized requiring replacement service line. If you are planning to replace your service line, contact us at 518-789-4489 prior to replacement so that we can coordinate our efforts.

Please exercise caution while using the Rail Trail. Rattlesnakes have been spotted on the Rail Trail. Stay alert and be mindful of your surroundings to ensure your safety. Rattlers are cold-blooded and need to seek out warmth when they get too cold. This is why you’ll often find them sunning themselves on a road or a large rock.
Here are some tips to remember while traveling the Rail Trail:
- Limit the use of headphones. Rattlesnakes use a hollow, segmented rattle at the end of their tail to alert predators of their presence.
- Be on the lookout. Always keep your hands and feet where you have a clear view. Avoid tall grasses and rocky crevices.
- Do not touch, pick up, or kill rattle snakes. There is no better way to be bitten by a rattlesnake than to purposefully touch it, so don’t do it.
- Keep your dog on a leash.
- Don’t travel alone.
If you are bitten by any snake while on the Rail Trail, call 911 immediately. All rattlesnake bites should be treated as an emergency until a doctor tells you otherwise.
Follow the tips below if you have been bitten by a rattlesnake:
- Remain calm and rest until help arrives. Slow your heartbeat if you can.
- Remove any jewelry, tight clothing, or anything that could be a problem with swelling.
- Do not cut, suck, apply ice, or “bleed” the bite.
- Do not drive yourself to the hospital. Call 911 and remain calm until their arrival.
- Do not tie it off and do not attempt a compression bandage.
